It is my great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 6th International
Seminar on November 22nd-24th, 2019 in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara,
Indonesia. The main theme of the seminar is: “Advancement of Water
Resources Management in a Global Challenge”.
Sustainable development under global challenges such as rapid population and economic growth, and climate change with limiting natural resources for the future we want calls for integrated and sustainable water resources management. This requires inter-linkages between various sector and clear understanding of such water-food-energy nexus. Beside greater interaction between sectors, a rapid changes in rural and urban water demands, escalating water related disaster, prominent climate change impacts require improvement in technology, IT, and even automation in the field of water resources management. Solution is needed based on new management options and widely available technologies. The seminar will provide an opportunity to exchange thought, knowledge, experiences among scientists, practioners and professionals regional and world wide in the field of water resources.
It will be once again an excellent opportunity to explore and exchange and share the experience and technologies and ideas to promote the sustainable water resources development and management.

World to date is facing global challenges, a
few to mention among others, population
growth, climate change, and sustainable
development. World population, in the next
12 years, will increase for another 1 billion,
creating escalated demand for food,
water, energy and economic growth. In
order to keep up with population and
economic growth, food production should
increase by 70 percents by 2050. On the
contrary, the loss of crop land, conversion
of water from rural to urban, depletion of
aquifer are intermingle in achieving the
target. At the same time, a variety of
climate change impacts has to be taken
into account. In facts, worth to mention
that global water withdrawals actually
have tripled over the last 30 years and will
need 40 percents more by 2030. Hence,
a more sustainable development should
take place producing more with requiring
less resources especially water.
The challenges are interdependent, an improvement in one aspect make it easier to solve others. A much broader collaborative and integrated water resources development and management in providing all social and economic development needs without leaving environmental requirement behind is a must. In addition, escalating water related disaster requires an active preparedness and as a consequence risk reduction methodologies have to be established. New technologies and much better approach in managing water demands and providing water supplies should also take place. An advancement of water resources management is inevitably to cope with the growing global challenges.
The Indonesian Hydraulic Engineers Association (HATHI) as one of the most prominent and leading professional organization in the country together with The Directorate General of Water Resources, Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Republic of Indonesia and the Provincial Government of East Nusa Tenggara is proudly invite scientists, practitioners and professional to share the thought, knowledge, and experience in an International Seminar in respected issues.
Water conservation, water related disaster mitigation and risk reduction, climate change adaptation and impact mitigation, advancement of early warning system technology and environmental protection.
Water balance, urban and rural water management, high and low flow management, water-food-energy nexus, water pollution, sanitation, sustainable development goal.
Institution and human resources improvement, Information-Technology application, automation application in water management, community and public participation.
The seminar is expected to gather 400 participants from local, regional and international water and related communities. The participants consist of faculties, researcher, practitioner and professionals including water managers and decision makers from Indonesia and other countries.
